Description
Wild-boars are resilient and intelligent animals. Their numbers are on rise in Europe due to the fact that most of their natural predators have been eliminated by humans. As a consequence, they can cause havoc in areas where they are close to human habitation. In harsh winter, their biggest challenge is to be able to dig through the deep frozen ground to get food. Their sense of smell is also heightened at this time. On this occasion, I was taking a brief moment to rest and snack but as soon as the scent of food was in the air, this small group of three made a charge for it. My first instinct as a wildlife photographer was not to flee, but to grab a nice shot of them trotting towards me.
